One Difference Between Men And Women That Occurs To Me

Length: 245 Words     Reading Time: 1 Minute

I recognize many differences between men and women, such as physical attributes, psychological capabilities, and intuitive skills. But the one that comes readily to my mind is the following.  Men are all about hierarchy and pecking order, and women are all about relationships and community.

I make this assessment about men from my experiences in playing sports and working in the corporate world. Men size up other men rather quickly. They determine who is the better player in sports and who has more power or less power than they do, either in business, other organizations, or even in community activities. Men establish the pecking order very quickly. Men joking with other men, even in their mature years, is all about defining that pecking order. Good men and men of integrity grow out of these games as they mature, but some men never let go of these practices.

Women try to relate to other women by sharing information about their families and their life experiences. Women understand the importance of community. They also understand that social activity is critical to a civilized society, and they are the ones that plan and organize the family and community events.

Men and women complement each other, and this recognition is critical to creating a lasting relationship between a man and a woman. In my opinion, we should celebrate this difference and all the others and not try to homogenize the two sexes. In today’s world, this is a challenge.
