Visualizing world peace is a waste of psychic energy. I recognize that is a controversial statement to make. So what is the alternative? I believe each of us should focus on inner peace and how we can achieve it.
Peace Pilgrim
Let me start with two quotes from the woman known as Peace Pilgrim. The first quote is from her small booklet titled “Steps Toward Inner Peace.” I suggest you get a copy from the Friends of Peace Pilgrim organization in Hemet, California, and read it every month. Her booklet is only 32 pages long.
Here is the first Peace Pilgrim quote from her booklet that I found so useful: “It isn’t enough just to do right things and say right things—you must also think right things before your life can come into harmony.”
The second quote expands on Peace Pilgrim’s belief regarding inner peace, to wit: “…When enough of us find inner peace, our institutions will become peaceful, and there will be no more occasions for war.”
In light of these two quotes from Peace Pilgrim, I believe we should follow her wisdom and create inner peace within ourselves. The steps are easy to state but not as easy to implement. If memory serves, it took Peace Pilgrim several years to reach inner peace in her life. The journey was not an easy one, but the results for her were magnificent. Never have I seen a face on another human being that radiated such inner peace and beauty. If all of us can achieve even a modicum of success in this regard, we will be streets ahead in living a more meaningful and worthwhile life. And, maybe, just maybe, we might gain more peace in the world.

Richard,
This little booklet by Peace Pilgrim at 32 pages is more powerful than 99% of the books out there. She was a remarkable woman.
