Is President Trump A Consequential President?

Is President Trump a consequential president? How will history judge him?  I view President Trump, in the simplest of perceptions, as a businessman with an extreme bias for action and results

In my opinion, history will judge President Trump as the most consequential president of this century and the last. The four presidents before President Trump (what I term the BCBO Era) served a total of 28 years. These presidents (Messrs. Bush 41, Clinton, Bush 43, and Obama) were all politicians.

Why Is President Trump A Consequential President?

President Trump accomplished more in his three years (before the so-called COVID Pandemic struck) than the previous four presidents did in their combined 28 years of “public service.” And, remember, three of the four presidents under discussion served eight years.

President Trump campaigned in 2016 on many substantive issues, such as correcting our trade policies with America’s contiguous trading partners (Mexico and Canada), curtailing illegal immigration, creating job growth, challenging China economically and strategically, and re-engineering America’s foreign policy, especially in the Middle East. He kept most of his campaign promises. Those he did not were due to the House and Senate’s intransigence, both of which were controlled by Republicans. The House was lost in 2018 to the Democrats.

President Trump is viscerally hated because he is a disrupter, and he has embarrassed the Washington Establishment (both Democrats and Republicans) by showing them up as charlatans, frauds, and incompetents. As the Chinese say, President Trump has broken their “rice bowl,” and they will never forgive him for that.

The Way Forward For The 74 Million Americans Who Voted For President Trump

The Democrats and their allies formed “The Resistance” once President Trump was elected in 2016.  The 74 million Americans who voted for President Trump should adopt a similar strategy.  These Americans represent about 49% of voters and are a force to be reckoned with.  Mr. Biden ignores them at his peril, especially if the Republiicans keep the Senate.

I offer the following five actions as a starting point for all conservative and libertarian Americans:

1. Re-engineer the Republican Party or form a third party under President Trump’s leadership.

2. Decouple from Google, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms that support a leftist or socialist agenda or that censor free speech.

3. Support the efforts of Hillsdale College, the Foundation of Economic Education, the Mises Institute, the Epoch Times, Prager University, Chronicles Magazine, and other like-minded organizations and publications.  These organizations are the last bastions of freedom and American ideals in our country.

4. Make a concerted effort to establish and fund charter schools because the public school system has been corrupted by the powerful teacher unions and cannot be rescued or revived.

5. Get organized and stay organized under local leadership.

There are many other actions that Americans can pursue to push back against the insidious transformation to a socialist world.  Common sense, logic, and a moral compass should guide the efforts of all conservative and libertarian Americans.  For me, I stand with personal liberty or individual freedom as the highest ideal.  Our challenge for America’s future is to balance personal liberty with a just and ordered society.
