Who Won The Election?

Who won the election? This question was asked of me by one of my Reno neighbors. Here is the answer I gave him.

No one has won the election until each of the 50 states certifies its vote count, and either President Trump or Mr. Biden receives 270 or more electoral votes. If there is a tie in the number of electoral votes at 269 or neither candidate receives 270 votes, then, the election goes to the U.S. House of Representatives.  The House would determine the next President by majority vote. The Senate would decide the Vice Presidential race.

For voting in the House of Representatives for the President, the U.S. Constitution states that each State has one vote. As luck, destiny, or fate would have it, the Republicans control a majority in the House of Representatives using this method. Consequently, President Trump would be re-elected using this contingent election in the House of Representatives.

If President Trump wins in the House, he wins bigly, to quote Scott Adams, the Dilbert cartoonist. If he loses, he goes back to living a charmed life with a strikingly beautiful wife, a great family, and the love of 73 million Americans. And, he leaves behind a legacy that the four presidents before him (Bush 41, Clinton, Bush 43, and Obama) in their 28 years of combined presidential service cannot match or even come close to. Not bad for a kid from Queens with no political experience. I, for one, wish President Trump well regardless of the outcome.  He did more for America than anyone in my memory.  In my opinion, he was the most consequential president in the last 75 years.

Looking Ahead

I ended my answer with this prediction as well. Looking ahead to the 2022 mid-term election, I believe the Republicans will take control of the House, and expand their majority in the Senate.  This political shift is the great triumph of President Trump.  He has shifted the thinking of the American political system towards putting America first.

I also predicted that Mr. Biden would fall flat on his face and he would accomplish nothing of any consequence in his four years as president.  He may reverse one or more of the Executive Orders issued by President Trump, but he (Biden) certainly will not be able to organize, plan, execute, and control any strategic or forward-thinking agenda in the best interests of America.  He lacks the energy, the leadership, and the mental toughness for the job.
