The title of this blog is self-explanatory.  I have lived most of my adult life overseas and from that vantage point, I see America as a unique country, because it was founded on ideas and principles uncommon at the time of the founding and to this day.  Foremost among those ideas were the concepts of individualism, self-reliance, and personal freedom.  To me, the most important idea of all is that of individual freedom.
