Time really is fleeting and life is precious for everyone regardless of circumstances. From my vantage point, too much time is wasted and most people do not realize what a precious gift life is. Even when life is not as good as it might be on any given day, it is still wonderful and very precious because of the five senses we have to enjoy the world around us.
The two phrases in the blog title are two sides to a single coin.
Time Is Fleeting
All of us have only 24 hours each day. Even the wealthiest of us cannot buy more time in a day. Here is one perspective for consideration: There are 1,440 minutes in a day and each day should be treasured as a jewel of great value.
However, in many cases, I suspect that most of us waste 80% or 90% of our waking hours in meaningless conversations, watching too much television, or reading inconsequential books, newspapers, or magazines. All of us must rethink our use of time.
Life Is Precious
Most of us take life for granted. For example, when we are young, we believe we will never grow old and that we have unlimited years ahead to accomplish what we want. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Some wag once opined that “…youth is wasted on the young.” In many ways, that statement is true. However, we can change the value of our lives by changing the operating strategy for our daily life: Maximize life on a 24/7/365-basis. That goal is not achievable in reality but directionally that should be our awareness. I challenge you to take that “road less traveled” consciously and actively.
