Can we let Trump be Trump? The short answer is yes, but let me reveal the back story to why I ask that question. I believe everyone would agree that President Trump is a president like no other. No man in either political party would have been able to withstand the vitriolic attacks that have been thrown at him almost from the time he came down the escalator in July 2015. President Trump is a businessman who sees through the smoke and mirrors with which the political class fools the American people. I believe that is why the various establishments hate him. That may be overly simplistic, but I think it is true.
The Back Story
On Thursday morning, I was driving along 580 North here in Reno on the way to my friend’s restaurant to help her with the day’s business. I drove behind a car with several bumper stickers on the back, one of which read “Let Trump Be Trump.” As I passed the vehicle on the driver’s side of the car, I gave him a thumbs-up. And that started me thinking about President Trump and why I continue to support him.
The Changes In America
I believe Americans have allowed the political establishments, both Democrat and Republican, to change America, not only for the sake of change, but for nefarious reasons as well. The insidious move towards socialism is one egregious example of the latter.
We, the People, have not been given the opportunity to weigh in on substantive issues in any meaningful way, even though we vote for senators and representatives every cycle. These politicians effect serious damage to our republic when they are in session in the House and the Senate. Their deliberations are beyond our control or influence.
Sadly, Americans have become too gullible and have come to believe that our so-called elected representatives (whether in the Senate or the House) have our best interests at heart. When, if the truth is known, with few exceptions, they do not. It is time that we push back firmly against the soft despotism that has gained a solid foothold in our country.
My Call To Action
How do we push back against this ever expanding political despotism? My answer is quite simple. Support President Trump and get out the vote for his re-election. Wherever you go, adopt the President’s Thumbs-Up and give it as a sign of support for the President whenever you have the chance to do so. Thumbs Up to one and all!
